Since she started her training as an industrial clerk at SABEU in August 1999, Sandra has become an indispensable part of our team. Just two years after finalizing her traineeship, she took on responsibility for accounting and collaborating with human resources department – and has been shaping these areas ever since!
Outside of work, Sandra enjoys spending time in her garden, hoping to turn her "brown thumb" into a green one. During the darker months, she finds joy in sewing when time allows. She and her family love exploring the countryside on bike rides and outings with friends.
Today she shares some insights into her work and experiences at SABEU:
- Annual accounts – a challenging time in finance
Sandra recently completed the year-end closing process, which is one of the busiest times for her department. "We do everything from cash management, invoice processing and payroll to master data maintenance and time tracking. Everything has to be done quickly at the end of the year, and in the first quarter of the new year the accountant comes in to check all the documents," Sandra explains.
- 25 years at SABEU – how has her work evolved?
Sandra has seen SABEU change significantly over the past 25 years. "When I started, we mainly supported the external tax office with accounting and everything was done manually – even payments were sent to the bank on floppy disks!" she recalls. With the introduction of an ERP system, the accounting department took over the bookkeeping in-house, giving it more responsibility and making the job more interesting. Over time, payroll and a digital time recording system were also integrated, further modernizing her role.
When asking her why she stayed with SABEU for over a quarter of a century, Sandra responds: "What I appreciate most is the interdepartmental cooperation. Even though my job revolves around numbers, the interaction with colleagues makes every day different and interesting."
She appreciates the helpful and supportive team culture at SABEU, which makes even stressful days more manageable. In addition, the company's flat hierarchies allow for quick decision making and a smooth workflow.
